Q & A

Q. Where do you live?

I live in Brighton & Hove on the south coast of the U.K - more of the Hove bit than the Brighton bit and a stones throw from the sea.

Q. Where did you grow up?

In Weymouth, in the UK. I then lived in Liverpool, New York, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Q. What’s your favourite food?

Yoghurt, obviously (have you even read my books?) or I could easily live in pizza for the rest of my life.

Q. What’s your favourite novel?

Ooh, so either Dodie Smith’s I Capture the Castle or Elizabeth Von Arnim’s Enchanted April.

Q. Favourite mental health book?

Dr Tim Cantopher’s Depressive Illness: Curse of the Strong. It’s a great book.

Q. Favourite author?

Anne Tyler.

Q. Favourite cake?

Carrot cake.

Q. Who would be at your ultimate dinner party?

As long as I’m not cooking I’ll have Alan Bennett, Helene Hanff, Kate Bush, David Sedaris and Maggie Smith.

Q. What was your first book?

My first book was The Recovery Letters in 2017. An anthology of letters from people with depression addressed to those currently struggling.

My first book I wrote was How to Tell Depression to Piss Off.

Q. Cats or dogs?

I should say cats as mine are in earshot, but I adore dogs.

Q. Most treasured possessions?

My dad’s watch. And my tote bag collection.

Q. Do you like readers contacting you?

I love it! Please get in touch.
